  • Huang Neng, a welder from Henan Province sits in Pudong's Lujiazui Central Green Park in Shanghai, China. (Huang Neng is featured in the book What I Eat: Around the World in 80 Diets). The caloric value of his day's worth of food on a typical day in June was 4300 kcals. He is 36 years of age; 5 feet, 6 inches tall; and 136 pounds. The migrant welder has worked on a dozen trophy skyscrapers on the Huangpu River in Pudong New Area, across the river from old Shanghai. His current project is the Zhongrong Jasper Tower, which will top out at 48 floors, a short-statured building compared to its neighbors. MODEL RELEASED.

Gray's Paradox asks the question why fish, with their slim muscles and small fins, can accelerate so quickly. Researchers have long hoped that unraveling Gray's Paradox will allow them to build safer, faster nautical propulsion systems. The dream is shared by Terada and other researchers at Mitsubishi, who have long thought that fish fins might serve as a model for a new kind of propeller that would make underwater vehicles faster, more stable, and more maneuverable. Visitors receive a commentary while looking at excavated bones at the Hot Springs Mammoth Site in South Dakota, USA. Here, the fossilized skeletons of at least 43 mammoths lie, buried for 26,000 years. It is thought these animals became trapped in a large sinkhole when they came to drink water. Mammuthus columbi was a giant elephant-like mammal, some 4 meters in height, which roamed temperate parts of North America. It was an important later relative of the woolly mammoth of Europe and Siberia. This fossil site was discovered in 1974. 1992.

This and 90 similar specimens were found in a Native American burial pit, and are thought to be about 8000 years old.
