Every morning at dawn, barefoot Buddhist monks and novices in orange robes walk down the streets collecting food alms from devout, kneeling Buddhists. They then return to their temples (also known as "wats") and eat together. This procession is called Tak Bat, or Making Merit.

They want to keep the snakes from spreading to other islands or the mainland USA. There are no birds on the Pacific Island of Guam thanks to the Brown Tree Snake. These hungry egg-eating snakes have overrun the tropical island after arriving on a lumber freighter from New Guinea during World War II. Besides wiping out the bird population, Brown Tree Snakes cause frequent power outages: they commit short circuit suicide when climbing between power lines.

The calorie total is not a daily caloric average.  Jill is  31 years old; 5 feet, 5 inches tall;  and 230 pounds. Honest about her food addiction replacing a drug habit, Jill joked about being a chocoholic as she enthusiastically downed a piece of chocolate cake at the end of the photo session. Her weight has yo-yoed over the years and at the time of the picture she was near her heaviest; walking her children to school every day was the sole reason she didn't weigh more. She says this photo experience was a catalyst for beginning a healthier diet for herself and her family. "Do I cook? Yes, but not cakes. I roast. Nothing ever, ever is fat-fried!" MODEL RELEASED. Appearing to be supported by a high-tech Zimmer frame, computer scientist, John Airey uses a steer-able treadmill to progress on a walk- through tour of a virtual image of a church hall. As he paces on the real treadmill, so he moves towards the altar of the 3-D computer-generated image of the church. Such software packages would be invaluable to architects in judging how their designs may be received by the people who will use them, perhaps well in advance of any real foundations being laid.
