April and Barry James, commercial paleontologists, holding the tusk of a Siberian Mammoth. Just behind them is a prepared and mounted skeleton of a Cave Bear (Ursus spelaeus), which was widespread throughout Europe in the Pleistocene Period about 2 million years ago. A skeleton in this condition can be purchased for about $35,000. Academics often frown upon such collectors, but amateurs have discovered many new species across the world.
