Colombo, Sri Lanka.Sir Arthur C. Clarke donned scuba gear for this photograph for the first time since 1991 and dives in the pool at the Otter Swim Club. Clarke moved to Sri Lanka in part for the excellent scuba diving more than 40 years ago. He is too frail to dive in the ocean (he has post-polio syndrome). He is seen here gesturing obscenely in response to Peter Menzel's gesture asking him to swim overhead one more time to take another photo. Sir Arthur is best known for the book 2001: A Space Odyssey.
